The XL version has deeper holds than the original making it a better option for first timers.
Measuring just 38cm x 10.5cm x 3cm | 14.9" x 4.1" x 1.18" the length of the Hanzo XL board is about the size of a standard desktop keyboard. Weighing in at just 550g it's an easy addition to your climbing pack or check-in luggage.
As standard, the Hanzo XL board comes with fixed holds that cover finger slots from 25mm, 21mm and 17mm with an additional centre hold on the back for one-arm hangs at 25mm. 3mm and 5mm inserts can be added to the holds to change the depth of the slots for even more variety - these are sold separately.
Beyond the various hold choices, the added versatility of the Hanzo XL hangboard comes into play depending on how it is mounted. As depicted in the additional images, depending on which direction the board is mounted and the angle of its tilt, differing levels of difficulty can be created. Each grip has two different finishes; one side is smoothly rounded (6mm) which is preferred for open-hand training whilst the other side is less rounded (3mm) and will therefore work on your crimp technique a lot more. The board can be easily flipped around on the same cord depending on what challenge you wish to face.
When tilted backwards, the Hanzo board offers holds for easier crimping. When left neutral you have more of a 90 degree challenge and when tilted forward, hats off to you if you are still hanging on!
Problemsolver have successfully created what looks like a minimalist hangboard which actually packs a ton of variation to work on finger and core strength.
